Therese Marie Evers
September 26, 1970 - January 14, 1986
Therese and I were not the sit together or call each other type of friends, but we were in St. John’s Youth Group together. For me, Therese was the girl who had that infectious spirit. She was liked by everyone because of it. She was the girl that made you feel like you could do anything you wanted to regardless of the limits imposed by high school insecurities. She always had a look in her eye, a way of smiling at you that made you feel welcome and appreciated. Mostly though, I remember her voice. You always knew she was in the room, and she was happy.

Seeing your brother, Chris, the Animal Ambassador at the Stamford Nature Center, made me think of you. He won my son over with snakes! I hope you are in a better place.

Matt Kelsey
December 29, 1969 - November 26, 1988
Matt was always the most friendly guy. I know we had a class together with Mr. Klein in eighth grade. I think it was Lunch/Study. Towards the end of the school year with not much to do in study hall, we were all sitting around playing cards. I have an image in my memory of him sitting on the other side of the desk with that big smile, laughing and raising his arms in victory.

For those of us that knew Matty K, a picture of him made up by his mom “Carol”. A professional job she did. May they both rest in peace. From your long lost friend: John Delinski, 5 states later, many wars later, many schools later, hope to see y’all later.

I am still in contact with Matt’s dad, George. He is doing well and married my childhood babysitter’s daughter! Peculiar coincidence. I think of you every November and wonder what might have been.

Though I didn’t know you well, I admired you from afar. Which of us girls didn’t?

Jesse Schmidt
August 21, 1970 - January 10, 2003
Jesse was the first boy to ask me to a dance. It was in fourth grade, and I was sitting on the floor in the back of Mr. Squeo’s classroom at Hollow Tree School. Suddenly, I was looking at a pair of sneakers. I looked up and there was a very serious Jesse . “Will you go to the square dance with me?” I said yes though I don’t remember my exact reply, but I will never forget his face at that moment.

We worked together at Noroton Yacht Club for a year. We used to race, swimming, to Pear Tree beach which almost got us fired because we were supposed to be…. working. I sail with your mom now!
